Henry County is accepting construction bids for its 2024 resurfacing contract. The county plans to resurface about 14 miles of roadway, based on available funding.

Although many roads could benefit from resurfacing, the county is limited by available funding. Road resurfacing costs about $300,000 per mile on a two-lane road. County commissioners and staff select which roads receive resurfacing based on a technical scoring.

2024 Resurfacing Bids

The county began advertising for resurfacing bids in mid-January. They will accept resurfacing bids until Wednesday, February 14, 2024. After which time, staff will review the bids received. The board of commissioners could consider a contract award in March. Road work should occur during this summer and fall.

Henry County receives grant funds annually from Georgia DOT. These funds assist with local road maintenance. The county receives about $2.5 million each year. For 2024, the county combined its grant funds from last year and this year. This allows Henry County to complete more work under one contract.
