The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced a new four-way stop to be installed along State Route 81 at New Morn Drive. The stop signs go into place on March 7. The intersection is in the Mt. Carmel area west of McDonough.
This is being done for safety reasons because the intersection has been the sight of multiple serious crashes. GDOT will be programming a future project to install a roundabout.
It is important to spread the word about this change because there are no other stop points along SR 81 for an extended distance. GDOT will have extra measures in place to assist with the transition.
