Henry County’s newest Chick-fil-A restaurant, and the county’s second drive-thru only location, is opening this Thursday, November 7. The new restaurant is at state route 20 and Willow Lane in McDonough.

The new location is essentially an extension of the existing Chick-fil-A McDonough location on the opposite side of I-75. This will provide residents with improved access to “Eat Mor Chikin.”

The new Chick-fil-A McDonough will be open starting on Thursday, November 7. The location will be drive-thru only. This means guests can place drive-thru, carry-out and Mobile Thru orders. There will be no dine-in seating. Store hours will be 6 am to 9 pm, Monday through Thursday and 6 am-10 pm Friday and Saturday.

In celebration of the opening, Chick-fil-A, Inc. has donated $25,000 to Feeding America to support local hunger relief efforts of Atlanta Community Food Bank, a Feeding America partner food bank, in honor of the new restaurant. In addition, Chick-fil-A McDonough is recognizing 100 local heroes making an impact in the McDonough area by providing them with free Chick-fil-A entrées for a year. The new store creates sixty full-time and part-time job opportunities.

Jesse Gilchrist will be the local owner-operator of Chick-fil-A McDonough DTO. Gilchrist is the existing owner-operator of Chick-fil-A McDonough. He has been the owner-operator since 2016. His Chick-fil-A career started at Truett’s Grill in McDonough.

“I’m deeply grateful and honored to be opening another restaurant in the community I’ve proudly called home for over 20 years,” said Gilchrist. “Chick-fil-A is about more than just our delicious food—it’s about creating a place where people feel truly cared for. I’m excited for the opportunity to reach even more Guests in our community that we can show genuine care to.”

The restaurant is located at 50 Willow Lane, McDonough. This is the intersection with Georgia 20. A QuikTrip service station previously occupied the site. QT relocated to be closer to I-75 last year. The McDonough council in November 2022 approved Chick-fil-A’s plan to redevelop the site.

Finally, a highway widening project is under construction in the restaurant’s vicinity. Georgia DOT is widening Georgia 20 between Willow Lane and Phillips Drive. When complete, the roadway will have four travel lanes and sidewalks. The project’s estimated completion date is summer 2025.
