Land clearing work has started to build the newest Publix grocery store in Henry County. The new store is located in Locust Grove.
The new Publix will be the company’s ninth location within the county. It is the fourth new Publix since 2021.
New Publix Grocery Store in Locust Grove
MHF News first reported the news in spring 2023 that a new grocery store was looking at Locust Grove. At the time, Venture South Investments sought a rezoning request for property at highway 42 and Tanger Blvd. The company has developed other Publix stores within Henry County, such as Ola, Kelleytown and Walnut Creek in Dutchtown.
Now, land clearing has started for the new Publix. Signage confirming the future store was added in August 2024. The new store will measure 48,000 square feet, similar to the other new locations. The store is estimated to open during the fourth quarter of 2025.
In addition, there will be 18,000 square feet of auxiliary shop space and various outparcels. There are eight outparcels in total. The outparcels range from one acre in size to 3.26 acres. Interested businesses can contact DART Retail to learn more about leasing opportunities.
Finally, the developer will be installing a new traffic light at highway 42 and Tanger Blvd. This new signal was a condition of the rezoning request subject to meeting state DOT requirements.
