American Deli Coming This Fall to East McDonough Shopping Center

A new American Deli is opening soon in an east McDonough shopping center. They are slated to open this fall in the Publix at Lake Dow plaza. They will be at 936 Highway 81, McDonough.

Update: American Deli held their grand opening on Wednesday, September 11.

American Deli at Lake Dow

The new American Deli will be operating in the former BonDo’s space. The local wings and tenders restaurant closed in March 2024. At the time, the owners shared a corporate restaurant chain approached them and made an offer they could not refuse. BonDo’s shared on their Facebook page on Monday, June 17, who would be accompanying their former space.

American Deli offers a wide assortment of burgers, chicken wings, and sandwiches for a quick lunch or dinner. Other menu items include gyros, fried rice and salads.

The Publix at Lake Dow retail center built in 2001. It is anchored by a 44,271 square foot Publix grocery store. There is 28,456 sq ft of auxiliary shop space. In addition, outparcels include Chick-fil-A, Jones Petroleum, Starbucks, Taco Bell, Truist Bank and Walgreens.

American Deli presently has six locations in Henry County. The American Deli at Lake Dow will be their seventh. Current locations include the following:

• Bill Gardner Parkway, Locust Grove
• State Route 20 at Old Industrial Blvd, McDonough
• Jonesboro Road at Towne Centre Village Drive
• Hudson Bridge Road, Stockbridge
• North Henry Blvd, Stockbridge
• Fairview Road, Ellenwood

American Deli founded in 1989 in Atlanta. Today, they have over 200 locations in eight states. Their stores can be found across the southeastern United States and California.

Nearby Commercial Development

Property across the street from Publix is presently under construction. It will be several commercial outparcels when complete. In addition, a new self-storage company is looking to build there. The McDonough council is scheduled to decide on September 16 whether to approve it. Earlier this spring, the council granted approval for a new self-storage business behind Chick-fil-A.

Finally, Arcadia at Symphony Park is a new apartment complex behind the Publix. They are now leasing units. Rents start at $1,555 for one-bedroom, $2,065 for two-bedroom and $2,555 for three-bedroom units. Construction began in January 2023 on the 250-unit development.
