How would you solve Atlanta traffic? Build an outer perimeter or other new highways? Widen existing roads? Expand transit options? The Atlanta Regional Commission has a survey out now for the metro transportation plan update.

The plan update is considering transportation investment between now and 2050. The Atlanta region expects to add 1.8 million people during this time.

Metro Transportation Plan Survey

The metropolitan transportation plan provides a comprehensive look at transportation projects within the Atlanta area. This can include both road projects and public transit. Take the ARC survey now to provide your feedback. Visit their website to participate and learn more.

The Atlanta Regional Commission expects the plan update will program about $173 billion in transportation funding. This covers projects across the 20-county metro area, to include Henry. Any project set to receive federal funds must be part of the regional plan.

Locally, there is also a county transportation plan. In 2020, Henry County had a population of 246 thousand residents. That number is forecast to be over 370,000 by the year 2050. The county completed an update to its transportation plan in 2022. More info about the county plan is available on the county website.

Finally, where will so many new residents live? Henry County is presently updating its land use plan. Check out our April article for the latest update.
