Chick-fil-A is proposing a new drive-thru only restaurant in McDonough to better serve its guests. The project location is at the intersection of state route 20 and Willow Lane near Interstate 75.

Presently, the property has a C-2 (general commercial) zoning. The company is seeking a rezoning to C-3 (highway commercial). McDonough requires C-3 zoning for a drive-thru restaurant. The council will consider approval of the rezoning request later this month.

Willow Lane Chick-fil-A

Chick-fil-A is planning to maintain the existing entrances to QuikTrip: one each off Willow Lane and Preston Creek Drive. According to the applicant’s traffic impact study, the restaurant will produce less vehicle trips than the current gas station. In addition, Georgia DOT recently accepted construction bids to widen highway 20. This project will reconfigure the intersection at Willow Lane with additional turning lanes.

If the city council approves the applicant’s request, then the project will redevelop the existing QuikTrip service station. QT is building a new location at the northeast corner of I-75. More updates to follow.
