The first market-rate apartments within the city of Locust Grove will build off Tanger Drive following a recent zoning approval. The city council approved a rezoning request from RangeWater Real Estate of Atlanta during the August 1 meeting.
RangeWater intends to build a 300-unit apartment complex. The twenty-five acre project is located at the intersection of Tanger Blvd and Tanger Drive behind Hampton Inn.
Zoning conditions stipulated by the council require the developer to construct a portion of the Tanger Drive extension. Specifically, the builder must construct the section of road parallel to their property. The road extension is envisioned to connect Tanger Blvd and Frances Ward Drive by building a road behind Ingles. In addition, the city is working to connect Frances Ward Drive with Peeksville Road at highway 42. Together, the two projects will create additional street connectivity within downtown Locust Grove.

Tanger Drive Apartments
The Tanger Drive project has a mixture of building types, to include both four-story apartments and smaller two and three-story buildings that are similar to townhomes. The project has a total of 300 units.
Representatives for the developer estimated about two-hundred units would be in the four-story buildings closest to Tanger Blvd. The remaining 100 units would be in the “townhome-style” buildings on the rear of the property. Some of the later units will also offer attached garages.
The unit distribution includes 60% studio and one bedrooms, 30% two bedrooms and 10% three bedrooms. Rents would be market-based and estimated at $1,500–$2,000+ per month.

Project amenities will include a swimming pool, fitness center and co-working space — common features in new apartment developments. In addition, the development company installs keyless entry for all buildings and units. Access would instead be through a phone app for each tenant.
