Following the board of commissioners meeting on February 15, Chair Harrell appointed Darrell “Dee” Anglyn III to be interim district III commissioner. The appointment became necessary after the resignation of Greg Cannon earlier this month.

Selection Process

State law provides for the political party which last held the seat to provide nominees for interim commissioner. In this case, the Republican Party submitted two nominees:

  • Vikki Consiglio
  • Derrell “Dee” Anglyn III

The board of commissioners then considers an interim board member from the list of nominees. Because the board as a whole did not make a motion on Tuesday night to fill the vacancy, the appointment deferred to the county chair. She selected Mr. Anglyn to fill the seat.

Mr. Anglyn will serve as interim commissioner until the end of the year. Voters in district III will select their next commissioner during the 2022 elections. Candidate qualifying for all 2022 positions will occur in March.
