The Atlanta area industrial market continues to spark new projects including the Bana 85 Commerce Center along I-85 in Jackson County. The 600-acre project was announced by ROOKER—a real estate development, design, and construction management firm—in October 2019.

At full build-out, the site is planned to include ten industrial buildings totaling 6,136,957 square feet. According to the development of regional impact review application submitted to the state in February, the construction timeline is estimated to be complete by 2029.

The company’s press release provides that road and utility construction will begin this year alongside initial site grading for 1.5 million square feet of industrial space. The subject property features over three-thousand feet of interstate road frontage and has access to I-85 exit 147.

Jackson County is an emerging focal point for manufacturing

Jackson County has experienced success in attracting new major employers to the community. In November 2018, then-Governor Nathan Deal announced SK innovation—a developer and manufacturer of lithium-ion batteries for hybrid electric vehicles—would create more than two-thousand jobs and invest $1.67 billion in their new manufacturing plant.

Since then, in January 2020, Enchem Ltd. announced plans for two manufacturing plants in Jackson County with three-hundred employees. Enchem is the first announced supplier for SK innovation.
