Clayton County CD Lanes

Georgia DOT broke ground on a major project this fall to build collector-distributor lanes on I-75 between Forest Parkway / mile 237 and I-285 / mile 238. The project’s estimated completion is June 2021.

Guthrie’s Chicken in Luella

New commercial space is under construction at the intersection of state route 155 and Bill Gardner Parkway. Guthrie’s is planning their first south metro location following two openings this year in Canton.

Intersection Improvements

Two SPLOST funded intersection improvement projects broke ground in 2019. The projects, located at Hampton-Locust Grove Road and Simpson Mill Road & state route 155 at Campground Road, will wrap up in 2020.

Jonesboro Road Park and Ride

Henry County received a state grant to aid in the construction of a new Jonesboro Road park and ride lot in 2016. Now under construction and once complete in spring 2020, new commuter bus service will be added expanding service for downtown workers.

Zip Line Park on Iris Lake Road

Some readers may know I have worked the past four summers at the Summit Bechtel Reserve for the Boy Scouts in West Virginia. A small handful know the Summit has the world’s largest collection of canopy tours and zip lines. The planned outdoor adventure park in McDonough is an exciting addition to our community offering a program that’s personally close to home.
