Blackhall Road will be closed at the intersection with Jodeco Road for final construction activities next week, July 9 through July 13. A detour will be marked and warning signs have been placed to alert drivers of the upcoming closure. Once complete, the intersection will reopen as a roundabout.
Installing the roundabout at this location is a safety project funded in part by federal dollars. Once open, the new design will relieve the lengthy evening bottleneck seen by vehicles attempting to turn left onto Jodeco Road.
In other news for the area, right of way acquisition was recently completed for the Blackhall Road bridge replacement over rum creek. The bridge replacement starts construction in August and will require a long-term road closure for the project. It is unfortunate that project schedules could not have better aligned for the roundabout construction and bridge replacement to occur simultaneously.
